My husband, Ted, and I are neighbors of the Harmon family in Middle Creek Preserve in Lewes, Delaware, so we've known them for just a couple of years. We invited Jerry and Deena to our home for dinner one night last year and we all had a fun night with a lot of lively conversation! I always found Deena to be a vivacious, enthusiastic and intelligent woman, and I enjoyed all the conversations the two of us had over the past couple of years, which were mostly via text as she frequently felt tired and admitted to not getting out much because of how she was feeling. She had to turn down a lot of invitations because of how she was feeling, but one time, I invited her to come to a "Paint & Create" event I was doing at our community's clubhouse and I was so happy she was able to come and enjoy the evening. She laughed, she painted, and she enjoyed some time with other neighbors. Deena told me that she was so thrilled to get out and enjoy that fun evening. This photo is of Deena with her painting from that event. Her smile says it all, and it warmed my heart to bring some small amount of joy to her during this challenging time in her life. I wish I had known her longer, and I feel blessed to have met her, even if for only a short time. Ted and I send our sincerest condolences to Deena's family and we hope and pray that they will be comforted by all the precious memories of her that will forever remain in their hearts.
