Deborah Woodward's Obituary
Deborah Emrick Woodward, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, niece and aunt passed away peacefully on November 13, 2024, in Seaford, DE. She was born on February 12, 1953, in Annapolis, MD, to the late Dorothea (Ridgeway) and Grover O. Emrick.
Mrs. Woodward’s early years were framed by the backdrop of her father’s naval career, who was ranked as Commander, which encouraged a love for travel that she carried throughout her life. An alumna of MarVista Senior High School, class of 1971, she later shone brightly at the Anne Arundel County water company's Taxes and Billing department. She retired from Anne Arundel County in 1991 and started her new career as a partner along with her husband with the National Flood Group. Her commitment extended to the Eastern Star, where she was the youngest worthy matron in the Odenton Chapter and the State of Maryland and a member for over 50 years and moreover, she was a proud member of the fleet reserve in Annapolis.
Mrs. Woodward’s personal life flourished when she met David Shailer Woodward in 1986. Their shared love blossomed, and they were married on April 9, 1989, and shared 35 years together in marriage. She was regarded as a great cook and seamstress, a passionate gardener, and an animal lover whose love was reciprocated by every creature she encountered. Her capacity to close down the bars with laughter and stories was memorable, making her a cherished companion to many.
Mrs. Woodward is survived by her loving husband, David Woodward; daughter Rebecca Stup (Michael Slone); son James Woodward (Kristina); and brother Wesley Emrick (Mary); niece Lauren Dorsey and nephew John Emrick; her aunts Lillie Mae Eismeier and Doris Harris; and six grandchildren: Maverick, Miranda, Jamison, Kendall, Damon, and Layla.
