David Francis McManus

David Francis McManus, age 77, of Seaford, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at TidalHealth Hospital in Salisbury, Maryland, after a long and courageous battle with numerous health conditions.
Born on May 12, 1948, David was the beloved son of the late David Francis McManus, Sr. and C. Evelyn (Hall) McManus. He graduated from Lewes High School in 1966 and then he proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970, earning the rank of Sergeant. Following his military service, David worked for many years at A&P Super Fresh as a night stockman. He was a dedicated member of the United Food & Commercial Workers Union and was respected for his strong work ethic and loyalty.
David was an avid outdoorsman who found great joy in fishing and hunting. He was also deeply involved in his community through several fraternal and service organizations. He was a member of the Odd Fellows, Federal Lodge #35, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus, Georgetown Assembly. Through these groups, David formed lifelong friendships and gave back generously to others.
David will be remembered as a loving father, a devoted brother, a cherished uncle, and a loyal friend. His presence, humor, and strength touched many lives, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his son, Zachary D. McManus, and Zachary’s wife Kerry, of Arizona; his sister, Margaret A. (McManus) McVey of Delaware; and his brothers, Timothy S. McManus and his wife Jody of Delaware, and Kevin B. McManus of Maryland. David also leaves behind his beloved nieces and nephews: Meghan A. (McVey) Mullen and her husband Tyler, Robert F. McVey III and his wife Jessica, Caitlin A. (McVey) Conwell and her husband Daniel, Timothy McManus, and Haley McManus, all of Delaware.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, Christopher P. McManus.
A chapel committal service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Delaware Veterans Cemetery, located at 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE 19966.
