Corey Lee Porter's Obituary
Corey Lee Porter, 53, of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2018 after a long struggle with cancer. Corey was born in California on June 3, 1965, son of Merlin and CL Porter.
Corey created a life he loved, living at the beach with his sweet fiancée and his two cats. He ran his own contracting business with a great following of customers.
At a young age Corey was inspired to learn how things work when his windup toy broke. His Grandad sat down, took the toy apart and put it back together again in working order, astounding Corey. This pivotal moment led to Corey becoming a man who fixed things using his skills and attention to detail to remodel and paint people’s homes.
Corey had a lifelong love of kitty cats, exercising and staying fit, and flying RC airplanes. He was a master chef when it came to making quiche, stuffed mushrooms, and grilling ribs. His sense of humor and prankster ways brought a lot of laughter to the world around him. He loved adventure, kayaking, motor cross, and cycling.
Corey was preceded in death by his father, Merlin Porter-Borden. He is survived by his fiancée, Debbie (Hess), his mother, her husband, Ron (Mellott), his sister, Chelsea (Peter) Weiss, his step-mother, Cathie (Porter-Borden), his half-sisters, Callie (Porter-Borden), and Joellan (Chris Hofmeister) Porter-Borden, his step brother and sister, Mark & Mindy (Mellott), his aunt & uncle Julie & Mark Fair, and cousins.
He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Corey's memory to the SPCA: 22918 DuPont Boulevard; Georgetown, DE 19947.
