Christopher Charles Valenti's Obituary
Christopher Charles Valenti went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 12th, 2026.
Born June 21, 1952, Chris grew up in Upper Falls, Maryland, where he developed a love of nature. He attended John Carroll High School and studied at Loyola College. After obtaining his Bachelor of Science, he was accepted into the University of Delaware, College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment, where he earned a Master of Science in marine biology.
After college, Chris remained a resident of Lewes, Delaware, where he built a life around family, faith, and a passion for horticulture. As a member of St. Jude the Apostle Church for many years, he served as a lector and member of the Parish Council. He also enjoyed teaching the Catholic faith to the parish youth through the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD).
A graduate of Loyola College and the University of Delaware, Chris was the owner of JB Landscaping, an international award-winning landscape and design company. JB Landscaping quickly became known in the area for creating aesthetic outdoor spaces and for the thoughtful integration of native plants and ecological principles.
Beyond his notable professional achievements, Chris was a devout Catholic whose love of creation extended far past the gardens and green spaces he designed. He saw in every project an opportunity to bring nature closer to people and to foster greater appreciation for the environment.
Chris is survived by his two sons, Anthony M. Valenti (Lauren) and Nathaniel M. Valenti (Megan); siblings Anne E. Valenti and Vincent A. Valenti; the mother of his children, Doris M. Valenti; and many family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles N. Valenti and Julia M. Valenti, and his sister, Mary A. Valenti-Bloom.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE 19958 where friends and family may visit beginning at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Chris’ name to Sussex Pregnancy Care Center, 5 Burger King Way, Georgetown, DE 19947.
