Charles Howard Suydam's Obituary
Charles Howard Suydam, age 90, of Millsboro, DE passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Beebe Healthcare, in Lewes, DE. He was born Tuesday, September 15, 1925 in Hatboro, PA, son of the late Charles and Annabel Suydam.
Mr. Suydam proudly served in the Navy during World War II. After retiring from the original ALCOA, Lancaster Works, where he was employed for 32 years, he moved to Delaware from Lancaster County, PA. He joined the American Legion Post 28 and was also a member of the Old Landing Golf Course. He liked to play golf two to three days a week. When he wasn't on the course, you could find him fishing, hunting, bowling or enjoying his friends and activities at Harbour Lights CHEER in Lewes. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Suydam was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Thelma Suydam, in 2003, his brothers William Suydam and David Suydam and his sister Virginia Horst. He is survived by his two sons: Kirk Suydam, of Lancaster, PA and Tom Suydam, of Mountville, PA; his daughter, Beth Suydam, of Millsboro, DE; his sister, Nancy Fry, of Florida; three grandchildren and one great grandson.
At his request there will be no memorial service at this time. A celebration of his life will be held at a future date.
