Catherine R. Piazza's Obituary
Catherine R. Piazza, age 77, of Milton, DE, died on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at, Select Specialty Hospital in Wilmington, DE. She was born in Wilmington on Monday, November 12, 1934, daughter of the late Joseph A. and Rose (Lynch) Young. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Colonel Ralph A. Piazza who died on December 8, 2008 and four siblings: Miriam Freebery, Joseph E. Young, Rosemary Miller and Betty Ann Merrill.
Mrs. Piazza was employed as a secretary for the Delaware Air National Guard for 12 years and was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church of New Castle. She was an avid Eagles fan and especially loved her home at the beach on Red Mill Pond. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Piazza is survived by five sons: Dennis J.Dorris and his wife Donna of Newark, DE, Michael J.Dorris and his wife Denise of Palm Harbor, FL, Ralph E. Piazza and his wife Linda L. of Wilmington, DE, Paul Piazza and his wife Martha of Elkton, MD, and Allen Piazza and his wife Terri of Newark, DE; one daughter Connie L. Euston and her husband Paul of Newark, DE; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother Daniel A. Young and his wife Sandy of New Castle; and many nieces, nephews and their families.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 521 Harmony Street, New Castle, DE. The family will greet friends on Monday evening, November 28, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the church.
Burial will follow the Mass on Tuesday at 1:00 PM at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
