Carol Wayne's Obituary
Carol Wayne, while surrounded by family and best friends, walked off the LIFE/BLUES stage after telling all in the room she was "heading out". She left the stage after calling out to her Mother, clearly reuniting with her in the audience. Carol's last blues song ended on February 25, 2020, at exactly 2:50pm.
Carol began her life journey on April 4th, 1950, daughter of the late Albert and Corinne Cobb and the eldest of four children. Her life began in Media Pennsylvania, onward to Maryland, and the majority of her adult life on the Big Island of Hawaii, before coming back to Delaware to be with her ailing Mother.
Carol was a real estate agent, served on the board of WCR and was involved in other local community organizations. Her history in Hawaii focused on the loves of her life: her six children, Merri, Ruby, Honey, Eddy, Willy and Lucy who ultimately shaped the woman we all loved and cherished. Carol’s compassion, grace, fun sense of humor, love of music, quick wit and laugh will be missed more than we all can fathom. Her relationship with her sister Bisha was a depth of love that her friends and family honored and will carry with forever. Her brother Stephen, has been her rock and her anchor, never wavering from her side. The friendships that Carol created and the love that she gave all was beyond what most people have ever experienced. We all wanted to be near Carol as she was always the one who was having the most fun. As her “Bean” says, “If you go to Lewes beach at sunset when the sun is near the horizon, listen closely; you'll hear Carol Wayne singing a joyful Blues tune, because the Blues was alright with Carol”.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her brother, James A. Cobb. She is survived by her six children: Merri Joy Moylan and her husband James of Post Falls, ID, Ruby Wood and her husband Nick of Oakland, CA, Honey Wayne of Tiburon, CA, Adam "Eddie" Wayne and his wife Selene of Pohoa, HI, and Lucy Wayne of Pasadena, CA; her ten grandchildren: Peter, Gemma, Joy, Blase, Julia, Max, Rose, Kaili, Cody, and Charlotte; her two siblings: Patricia "Bisha" Cobb Richardson and her husband Gene "Bean" of Baltimore, MD and Stephen Cobb and his wife Deborah of Ocean View, DE; her beloved uncle, John Carnwath and his wife Louann of Richmond, VA; and a great grandchild on the way.
A memorial service will on Saturday March, 14th from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Ivy, 136 Dagsworthy Street, Dewey Beach. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes, DE.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Carol's name to the Delaware Breast Coalition, 18977 Munchy Branch Rd., Unit #1, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware 19971.
