Carol R. Hohman's Obituary
Carol Margaret Roth Hohman, always in our hearts
Carol Margaret Roth Hohman, 96, of Dewey Beach, DE, made her journey to Heaven Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at home with her family. She was born July 14, 1929, in Englewood, NJ. Carol was first loved by her Swiss parents, John and Margrith Roth.
Carol was a graduate of Western High School, Baltimore City, and the Baltimore Business College. Over the years, she worked as a Sales Associate for Hutzler’s and Stewart’s department stores and as the Secretary for the Construction Engineer at Maryland State Roads. Carol also helped in the family restaurant, The Fairfax, Baltimore City.
In 1989 the Hohmans moved from Towson, MD to Dewey Beach. Carol enjoyed spending time on the beach, gardening, sewing quilts and hosting family and friends. She could out shop any of us, even into her 90’s. She faithfully volunteered for over 30 years in the Beebe Hospital Auxiliary, serving in the gift shop and craft group. She also belonged to the Dewey Beach “Lunch Bunch.”
Carol loved her local church, Lewes Presbyterian, where she encouraged people by volunteering in the card ministry. In addition, she belonged to their MAMS ladies group, “Mothers will Always be Mothers.”
During the winter months, the Hohmans resided in Marco Island, Florida where they made many wonderful friends from all over, including Canada. Carol especially enjoyed sitting by the pool in the Florida sun and playing card games in the evening.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Allen C. Hohman Jr., parents John and Margrith Roth and sister, Claire Joan Roth. She leaves behind a son, John Hohman Sr. and his wife Peggy of Dewey Beach, DE; a daughter, Sherry Trageser of Tequesta, FL; four grandchildren: Jennifer Hohman, John Hohman Jr., Caroline Dobutovich and her husband Derek, J.
