Billie Ann Buckaloo's Obituary
Billie Ann Buckaloo , age 78, of Lewes Delaware passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026. She was born on September 8, 1947, at Beebe Hospital in Lewes Delaware.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents William “Bill” and Avice Rickards; her in-laws Henry and Marcella Buckaloo, and her brother Louis A. Rickards.
She is survived by her husband of 59.5 years, Richard Buckaloo III; her son William Henry Buckaloo, and her four cherished grandchildren, Christopher Colpo, Maren Buckaloo, Quinn Buckaloo, and Sloane Buckaloo. She is also survived by her devoted sister Avice Rickards (Ray); her sister in law Naomi Rickards; her daughter in law Bridget Buckaloo; her granddogs Kemper and Chip; and numerous nieces,nephews, and cousins.
Billie was a lifelong resident of Lewes and a proud graduate of Lewes High School class of 1965, maintaining close friendships with many of her classmates throughout the years. She continued her education at Delaware Technical and Community College, where she pursued her LPN.
She began her career as a lab technician at Beebe Hospital before earning her Nursing degree. Billie dedicated her life to caring for others, working as a nurse at Paramount Poultry then at Beebe hospital in Labor and Delivery, and later spending many years at the Blood Bank of Delaware, where she retired after a long and fulfilling career.
A devoted member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Billie found joy in her faith and her community. She loved playing the piano, reading, and spending time at Lewes Beach as a true “Beach Bum.” She created a warm and welcoming home for anyone and everyone who entered. She was known for her exceptional cooking, and she delighted in hosting holiday gatherings, especially Christmas where she wrapped and decorated with great love and care.
Above all else, Billie adored her family, especially her grandchildren who were the light of her life. She will be remembered for her kindness, her generosity, her warmth, and her unwavering love for those around her.
Billie Ann Buckaloo will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
