Betty Elise Caslake's Obituary
Betty E. Caslake, age 93 of Lewes, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Beebe Healthcare, in Lewes.
Mrs. Caslake was born in Melrose, MA, on September 16, 1924, daughter of the late Charles and Ada Dumond. Her parents immigrated from Guernsey, Channel Isles, UK, after World War I.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Sydney. They met in Boston at the Union Jack Club. Sydney, who was serving in the British Navy, was in Boston while his ship was being repaired.
Betty and Sydney relocated and traveled throughout the US and Europe for Sydney's career. Betty loved art and was an owner of a gallery in Murrysville, PA. She also enjoyed buying and refurbishing houses in Pittsburgh.
After retiring, the Caslakes moved to Lewes part-time and moved permanently in 1997. Betty enjoyed taking courses at the University of Delaware Osher Life Long Learning Institute. She also enjoyed investing in the stock market and helped to found an all-female stock club.
Betty loved animals, particularly cats. She owned several cats and was a supporter of cat rescue efforts in the Lewes area.
Betty is survived by several Godchildren and dear friends. She was an independent spirit who will be missed.
No funeral services will be held at the request of Mrs. Caslake. Interment will be in New Hampshire.
