Armand Zinnato's Obituary
Armand P. Zinnato, age 90 of Millsboro, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 10, 2018. He was born in Montreal, Canada, came to America in 1963, and later became an American citizen.
Mr. Zinnato earned a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from McGill University, after which he began a 35 year career as a research chemist for the DuPont company. While there he made the highly significant contribution of developing Stainmaster Carpeting. Mr. Zinnato's interests were many and varied; he enjoyed crabbing, gardening, wood working, tinkering around the house and was an avid bridge player. He was an active 24-year member of the Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge where he held various positions. He was also a Knight of Columbus at his longtime parish, St. Jude the Apostle. More than anything, however, he cherished time spent with those he held dear. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents and seven siblings, Mr. Zinnato was preceded in death by his first wife of 54 years, Sally Zinnato. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marie Alice Zinnato; his children: Angela Rohrich (Skip), Diana Ryan (Ed), Ken Zinnato (Nancy), Donna Manista (Joe), and Ron Zinnato (Constance); his grandchildren: Kenny, Brandon, Jeremy, Ryan, and Nicholas Zinnato and Annie Manista; two great-grandchildren; and his sister, Maryanne (Lena) Ehrick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, July 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive; Lewes, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mr. Zinnato's memory to Little Sisters of the Poor: 185 Salem Church Road; Newark, DE 19713, or Seasons Hospice: 30265 Commerce Drive, Suite 205; Millsboro, DE.
