Alliene Brittingham's Obituary
Alliene Brittingham, age 91, of Milton, DE passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at her daughter's home. She was born on October 23, 1924 in Wilmington, DE, daughter of the late John and Stella (Dangle) Gasser.
Mrs. Brittingham was a 1942 graduate of P.S. DuPont High School in Wilmington, DE. She received a Pharmaceutical degree from Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. Following her graduation, Mrs. Brittingham worked with her brother, Franklin, in their family's pharmacy store until 1974 when the pharmacy was sold. She went on to work for many years at the Happy Harry's chain. In addition Mrs. Brittingham also helped her husband, William, with his restaurant business, "Copper Kettle."
Mrs. Brittingham and her husband retired to Ocean View, DE area permanently in 1984. She continued working in her profession until 1992 at various pharmaceutical stores in the Sussex County.
Mrs. Brittingham was devoted to her family and was an animal lover. She was a talented pianist and loved writing poetry during her spare time.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brittingham was preceded in death by her husband, William Brittingham, in 2008. She is survived by her five children: Lisa Armstrong and her husband Doug, Keith Brittingham and his wife Lana, Lezlie Anderson and her husband Steve, Kurt Brittingham and his wife Diane and Kim Gamaitoni and her husband Ed; twelve grandchildren: Ashley Wilson and her husband Trevor, Jaime Anderson, Chris Gamaitoni and his wife Tyler, Michael and Josh Gamaitoni, Kristin, Arielle, Taylor, Alex, Jarrod, Heather and Kaitlyn Brittingham; a great-grandchild, Rachel Duffy; two step grandchildren: Douglas Armstrong, III and Andrea Grebinger; two step great-grandchildren: Nolen Armstrong and Grant Grebinger; a sister, Verna Monaghan; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2016, at 11:00 AM, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 211 Mulberry Street, Lewes, DE 19958, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
