Alice K. Parker
Loved cats, the Phillies, and Ice Cream!
Alice K. Parker, age 97, passed away peacefully on Friday April 27, 2018 with her family by her side at the Moorings at Lewes, Life Care Center. Alice was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on July 26, 1920, the eldest daughter of Merrill and Helen (Ralston) King. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her brother John, and her sister Merrie.
Alice graduated from Michigan State University with a B.A. degree in 1942. She married Howard H. Parker, also from Kalamazoo, on September 11, 1947, and remained married for 63 years until Howard's passing on April 27, 2011. In 1962 Alice and Howard moved to Wilmington, Delaware from Kalamazoo. Upon Howard's retirement from Hercules, Inc., Alice and Howard moved to Lewes, Delaware in 1983. They were active in their church and the community. Alice was also a volunteer with the Delaware Hospice. In 2008 Alice and Howard moved to Cadbury at Lewes Senior Lifestyles.
Alice is survived by her three children: Stephen and wife Ruth Ann, Susan and husband Donald, and Michael and wife Gisele; two nieces: Carol and husband Mark, and Kathy. In addition Alice is survived by five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held with family members when Alice will be laid to rest alongside her husband. A Memorial Service will be held on May 19, 2018 at 3:00 PM at the Moorings at Lewes, 17030 Cadbury Circle, Lewes, DE 19958.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Griswold Foundation at griswoldcares.org.
