Zita E. Norris' Obituary
Zita E. Norris, 95, of Ocean View, DE passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, DE. She was born in Pearre MD on June 29, 1915, daughter of the late Thomas J. and Susan (Donegan) McKnight.
Mrs. Norris was a resident of Frederick, MD until six months ago when she relocated to DE to reside with her daughter and son-in-law. For many years, Mrs. Norris was employed as a substitute school teacher at St. John Regional Catholic School in Frederick. She was an active parishioner at St. John the Evangelist Church; a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary; and the Elks Lodge. She loved her cat and she enjoyed singing for shows put on by the Lions Club, She was very good at gardening, baking, quilting and crocheting.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Emmitt (Jake) Norris, three brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Maureen A. Riggles and husband Larry of Ocean View, DE; three granddaughters: Amy R. Keeney and Meghan E. Riggles both of Frederick, and Rachel E. Gardiner and husband Ronnie of Dagsboro, DE; a grandson Matthew A. Riggles of Frederick and three great-grandsons: Taylor J. Riggles of Brunswick, MD and Colin and Ethan Gardiner of Dagsboro; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church, 116 E. 2nd Street, Frederick on May 6th at 10:00 AM.
Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Hancock, MD, where a Prayer Memorial will be held in the chapel on May 7th at 1:00 PM.
