Winifred Pearl Nelson's Obituary
Winifred P. (Clark) Nelson, age 91 of Milton, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 22, 2022, at home, surrounded by her family. She was born on June 17, 1931, in Chester, PA, daughter of the late James and Pearl Clark.
Winnie graduated from Chester Hospital School of Nursing in 1952 and practiced as a registered nurse for several dedicated years before her retirement in 1988. She worked at Crozer Hospital, Scott Paper Company, and Marple Newtown Vocation School. Winnie practiced nursing no matter where she was, always ready to help someone in need. She was active in Nur Temple Shriners alongside her husband and participated in the Harvard Nursing study for more than 30 years, assisting with research benefitting her beloved vocation. Winnie was a skilled knitter, as evidenced by the many baby blankets she was always making for loved ones. She was also a breast cancer warrior and survivor. Above all, Winnie cherished time with those she held most dear. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Loved by many, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Winnie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl Nelson in 2008. She is survived by her children: Lynn Marie Galbraith (William), Lorraine Weikel (Joseph), and Carl Nelson, Jr; her adored grandchildren: William Galbraith III, Meghan Davis, Michael Galbraith, and Elena Weikel; and her treasured great-grandchildren: Killian, Piper, Keegan, Hazel, and Kellan.
Interment will be private.
