William Sheldon's Obituary
William "Billy" Sheldon, 49, of Lewes, DE died peacefully at his residence on Monday, March 3, 2008. He was born August 27, 1958 in Wilmington, De. He was a graduate of Claymont High School. He held an associate degree in Criminal Justice. He was a former member of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Dept. where he had served as a line officer. In his free time he enjoyed golfing, fishing and driving his truck known to all as Big Red. You could always find him during football season on the sofa watching his favorite team the Philadelphia Eagles. Billy was a kind soul who was always there to help family, friends or strangers in need. He was a dedicated and loving father and husband to his daughter Brittany and wife Kim. He will be dearly missed.
In addition to his mother, Carol Sheldon of Lewes, DE, he is survived by his wife, Kim (Morris) Sheldon; his daughter Brittany Sheldon and her fiance Bruce Benton, Jr., both of Lincoln, DE; his step-son, Ryan Austin Toohey of Lewes; his brother David "DD" Sheldon and his wife JoanCarol of Millsboro, DE; his sister, Cathy Trethewey and her husband, Bruce of Finksburg, Md; nephews Matthew and Michael Trethewey. He was preceded in death by his father Clark "Pete" Sheldon.
A celebration of Billy's Life will be held Saturday, March 8, 2:00 PM, at Conley's United Methodist Church, 22150 Robinsonville Road, Lewes, where friends may call starting at 1 PM. Pastor Randy Booth will be officiating. Interment will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Enterprises, Inc., Lewes, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 163, Salisbury, MD 21803-0163 or to the American Heart Association, 1151 Walker Road, Suite 202, Dover, DE 19901.
