William C. Sarangoulis' Obituary
William “Bill” C. Sarangoulis, age 91, of Milton, DE passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was born February 12, 1921, son of the late Christ & Edna (Barlett) Sarangoulis.
After graduating from Reading High School in 1939 Mr. Sarangoulis moved to Baltimore where he was employed at Glenn L. Martin Company. He later entered the US Army and proudly served with the 70th Infantry Division in World War II. He would also serve in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Sarangoulis enjoyed a forty-one year career with Glenn L. Martin Company in Baltimore, MD, retiring in 1983. He and his late wife Ruth would then enjoy their retirement years in Palm Coast, Florida.
Mr. Sarangoulis was a man of strong faith. While in Florida, he was very active in the Lutheran Church and was instrumental in the building of a new Church. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion in Baltimore and Florida. He loved fishing of all types, especially in the canal of his Florida home. Mr. Sarangoulis was a sports enthusiast who loved watching and attending Baltimore Orioles games. He was also an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed solving crossword puzzles.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Sarangoulis was predeceased in death by his beloved wife Ruth May Sarangoulis (2008); two brothers: Kenneth and Ted Sarangoulis; and two sisters: Betty Poust and Mary Brophy. He is survived by: his sister Barbara Boone of Reading , PA; two sons: William C. Sarangoulis, Jr. and wife Barbara of Milton, Delaware; Randall Sarangoulis and wife Amy of Madison, Wisconsin; three grandchildren: Jennifer Gaertner and husband Jason of Chestertown, MD; Christopher Sarangoulis and wife Lindsey of Cantonsville, MD; Megan Sarangoulis of Madison, WI; two great-grandchildren: Will and Cate Sarangoulis of Cantonsville, MD; Mae Gaertner of Chestertown, MD and his two loving pet companions, Dexter and Jax.
A family Memorial Service will be held on August 21, 2012 at 2:00 PM, at the Aslace Lutheran Church, 2201 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605. Graveside services to follow at 2:45 PM. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes, DE.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Alsace Lutheran Church, 2201 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605.
