William Michael Reber's Obituary
William Michael Reber, age 72, of Dagsboro, DE, passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side on Saturday, June 4, 2022. He was born on December 23, 1949, in Olney, MD, son of the late George William Reber and Edythe Orme Rotruck (formerly Reber) of Gaithersburg, MD.
Michael was a graduate of Gaithersburg High School, Class of 1967. Following High School, he enlisted in the Navy, where he served for four years with Naval Intelligence stationed in Japan and Puerto Rico, during the Vietnam War. Succeeding his Navy career, Michael began working for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s office in the Fugitive Squad, where he was proud to protect his community for twenty years.
Upon retirement, Michael stayed active as a security guard working for multiple companies. He had many and varied interest and hobbies. Michael enjoyed fishing, metal detecting, reminiscing, and he was a skilled storyteller. The time he spent with those he held most dear was what he cherished most. Michael was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Loved by many, he will be deeply and genuinely missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, George William Reber; his mother, Edythe Orme Rotruck; his maternal grandparents, Charles Marshall Orme and Irene Virginia Bosley Orme of Gaithersburg, MD; and his paternal grandparents, George Reber and Edna Henneberger Reber of Washington Grove, MD. He is survived by his wife of over 38 years, Rosalyn (Rose) Reber of Dagsboro, DE; his daughter, Yvonne Hildebrand (Steve) of Roanoke, VA; his stepchildren, Deborah Watkins (Charlie) of Ocean View, DE and Kenneth Sharp (Martha) of Leesburg, VA; his grandchildren: Eathan Hildebrand, Emma Hildebrand, Rachel Seibert, Kelly Seibert, Samantha Sharp, Patrick Sharp; his sister Jacquelyn Martin (Leonard) of Mt. Airy, MD; his aunts Mary Louise Crown and Janet Burdette; and multiple cousins.
There will be a private service for family at a later date.
