Dear Joan and Family,
I was saddened to hear of your loss. Please know how very sorry I am, and you all are in my thoughts. I will always remember the good times we had at Bull Hill. Memories of love and friendship are treasures to carry with you always. Rest in peace, Bill. Dick Walls -- New Castle, DE
When I read the obituary for Bill I was at once saddened at our loss and overwhelmed at the accuracy in all aspects of his remarkable life. He is the man most of us would aspire to be. My favorite memory: the HP Avondale Division had been challenged to a flag football game by the New Jersey Division and they travelled to Avondale and whipped us good (their team played regularly in a league and ours was a pickup team). It was to be a home and home series, so we went to NJ for redemption - and got it big time since we now had a secret weapon, Bill Reader. I was lucky enough to be on the receiving end of a pass Bill threw about 40 yards in the air which went for a touchdown. That so demoralized the opposition that they wanted no more to do with us and especially Bill. I am so glad that he fulfilled his desire to retire to Lewes and that he was so impactful in restorations there.

Bill and I graduated from Wm. Penn together. Class of 1959. He was voted most athletic by his classmates. Go figure. The last time we spoke was at our 50th high school reunion. Fond memories were exchanged. Rest in peace my fellow grad. Joe Lagowski, Conroe, Tx.

Bill was a kind man and a fine gentleman. I enjoy the memory of him at the groundbreaking ceremony for HP’s Little Falls plant, where he exchanged light banter with the governor, his boyhood friend Mike Castle. Rest in peace, Bill. Nick Fina
Uncle Bill was a quiet, calming presence and always kind and interesting. I will miss him. Rest in peace. Until we meet again. . .
My deepest condolences to you dear Joan and family. I am so sorry for your loss of a very special person in your life as well as in our community. My memory about Bill is all about the Overalls Lightship. Our "Bills" loved her and devoted years to her and restored her to the beauty she is under your Bill's leadership. What a legacy he has left.
