William Joseph McCafferty's Obituary
William Joseph McCafferty, "Uncle Billy", age 75, of Lewes, DE passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2014. He was born on February 14, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late John and Mary (Richardson) McCafferty.
Mr. McCafferty was a Xerographic Technician by trade, working for Copy Quick located in Croydon, PA for 20 years. He loved volunteering whenever the opportunity presented itself, especially for the American Legion Post #28, Long Neck AmVets Post #22 or the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #646 in Lewes. Mr. McCafferty had proudly served in the United States Marines from 1956 to 1962.
Mr. McCafferty enjoyed Karaoke at some of his favorite local hot spots. He could often be found shooting pool with friends or alone fine tuning his game. In his leisure time Mr. McCafferty liked sitting down to watch a good Western movie, especially if John Wayne was featured. His real love in life was writing and illustrating children's books which he shared with family and friends.
Mr. McCafferty is survived by his six children, Dawn L. Heck of Milton, DE, Allen Feinberg and his wife Alex of West Chester, PA, Michael McCafferty and his wife Donna of Newark, DE, Tracey Snodgrass and her husband Tom of Langhorne, PA, William McCafferty, Jr. of Langhorne, PA and John D. McCafferty and his wife Erin of Salisbury, MD, thirteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
A Chapel Committal Service followed by Military Honors will be held on Tuesday Dec. 2, 2014 at 11:00 AM at The Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, DE.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Toys for Tots, c/o Neil B. Corley, Veteran USMC, 23132 Lakeview Drive, Lakeview Estates, Millsboro, DE 19966.
