Condolences to the family.
I'm sorry to here about Bill's passing. My dad was Joseph "Buddy" McDermott. Bill and my dad grew up together in Irvington. Bill was a very nice person. He would drive out to California every couple of years to visit our family. I remember the year he brought Rusty with him. Rusty and I went the beach and Rusty got a bad sunburn. Bill even drove out to Arizona in 1976 to go to my brother's wedding.
Bill was always helpful and interested in my career in law enforcement and security. He would give me advice and tell stories of his experiences with the Federal Protection Service at the SSA.
My wife, Toni and I will keep Bill in our prayers and I will always think of him whenever I'm in Irvington.
Mr. Kroeger was an officer, a gentleman and a friend. Under his gruff exterior was a very humorous man with a kind heart. I am very sorry to hear of his passng and consider myself very fortunate to have known him.
You're in our thoughts and prayers as you face this difficult time. It was just one year ago when we were facing what you are facing right now. We will miss Mr. Kroeger. Mr. Kroeger and my dad, Julius Pryor, were GREAT friends. They lived on opposite ends of the street and would always take turns driving to McDonalds every morning to gather with friends and eat breakfast until my dad could no longer drive. Then Mr. Kroeger would always drive down to the end of the street to pick up my dad and off they went. When my dad had his last stroke and was paralyzed he had to be admitted to a nursing home. Mr. Kroeger would continue to visit with my dad and bring him coffee from McDonalds. Mr. Kroeger would also visit my mom and check on her to make sure she was okay. When my dad passed away a year ago (October 27, 2009), Mr. Kroeger was the first one there for the viewing. Both Mr. Kroeger and my dad were the same age (my dad's birthday was in June) but they would always find a way to joke about being older/younger than the other. They were really funny together. Now they're together again. May God comfort you and give you peace during this time.
