William Henry Hastings' Obituary
William Henry Hastings of Seaford, DE, age 63, passed away peacefully at his residence with his loved ones by his side on Thursday, January 28, 2010. He was born November 3, 1946 in Dover, DE, son of the late W. Henry and Edith (Phelps) Hastings.
Mr. Hastings enjoyed a long career with Manlove Auto Parts of Seaford. He also enjoyed bowling and played for many years first on the Mar-Del Bowling League and later on the Seaford City League. Another favorite past-time of his was cheering on Tony Stewart of NASCAR fame. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. Hastings is survived by his wife of 40 years, Althea (Shockley) Hastings; two daughters: Rebecca L. Willin and Joan R. Brown, both of Seaford; three grandchildren: Timothy, Brandon and Brittany Spicer; his son-in-law, David Brown of Seaford; his mother and father-in-law, Minos H. and Joan P. Shockley of Seaford; and his sister-in-law Vivian L. Shockley of Millsboro.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 1, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE with the Rev. Floyd T. Morton II officiating. Interment will follow at Bridgeville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 PM on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to VITAS Hospice Charitable Fund, 100 Commerce Drive, Suite 302, Newark, DE 19713.
