I have known Bill since the 60's when he was the flagman at DIS, and hanging out of the flagman stand and I couldn't believe he had the nerve to hang over the track with the cars running under him. In the last 14 years I was able to talk with him at every race since he would near the fence on pit road and I was there getting some pictures of the drivers as they went out on the track. He was a great person with the love for racing and will be missed by many who knew him. Prayers to his family during this difficult time. Blondie
Just remember him stopping by work and always having a good laugh with him. Awesome Bill from Dawson ville you will be missed lucky to call you my friend.
Robin, "Mom", Amber, & family - Susan and I are so saddened about Bill. We didn't have the opportunity to know him well, but we enjoyed talking to him and learning about his amazing life. I especially liked his stories about car racing, as Bristol, Tennessee 500 was but a couple of hours from my home town of Knoxville. My family, especially my brothers, were big racing fans, so I thought of them each time I had a conversation with Bill. What we do know is that Bill was a very proud man, a dedicated father and grandfather, husband, and friend. In short, he was a "good" man, of which there are few these days. Rest in peace, Bill. Your race is won. Much love, Cathy Benson/Susan Jimenez
I will miss that wonderful smile- he had it in high school and it never changed.
