William Moody Goodrich's Obituary
William Moody Goodrich, age 54, died on Monday, March 13, 2017 at his home in Lewes, DE. He was born December 28th 1962 at Beebe Hospital, in Lewes, DE, son of Trip Moody Goodrich and the late Chuck Goodrich.
Bill grew up in Rehoboth Beach, where he attended the Rehoboth Beach Elementary School and the Jr. High School, where he was a member of the undefeated Sea Hawks football team. He later graduated from The Blue Ridge School near Charlottesville, VA. There he was awarded MVP trophies in soccer and lacrosse. He won a lacrosse scholarship to Washington College in Chestertown, MD. After graduation, he was often seen coaching his young daughter in the game’s finer points on Hudson Field, Milton DE.
Bill is the grandson of the Honorable Edgar J. and Beulah Goodrich of Washington, DC, and also the grandson of the Rt. Rev. William R. and Cordie Lee Moody. He enjoyed playing chess with his grandfather in their summer house in Indian Beach. Both pairs of grandparents and his father preceded him in death.
Bill loved the beach, the ocean and especially fishing! Rehoboth Beach was a wonderful place to grow up. He was the owner of Sounds of the Sea, Records and Tapes, and after that he was employed by many various restaurants in Rehoboth Beach throughout his career as a cook and kitchen manager.
He is survived by his mother, Trip Wilkinson of Lewes DE, his sister Win Rosenberg and her husband Hank, and Jessica Rosenberg of Rehoboth Beach, DE. Michelle Nolan Goodrich, his daughters: Cordielyn and Lee Goodrich, all of Lewes, DE. His aunts, Molly Goodrich Houston of Princeton, New Jersey and Anne Moody Page, and Rosewell Page of Richmond, Virginia. His step siblings, Peter Wilkinson, Signe Kavanagh, Warren Wilkinson and Julia Gallagher, and numerous cousins.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. George’s Episcopal Chapel, 20274 Beaver Dam Rd, Harbeson, DE 19951 where friends may begin visiting at 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church, 18 Olive Avenue, Rehoboth Beach DE. 19971.
