It is with great sadness that I write on Billy's tribute wall. I think my Mother also picked up on Billy, on the way, at another birthday dinner 2 years following Ronnie's birth. With Billy's birth so began the saga of a too short but of a life long friendship between 2 brothers.I remember attending one of his soccer games and afterwards catching sight of his reflection in the front window of a store and commenting that he looked like Patrick Swayze . Every time I would observe this likeness and tease him he would drop his head and his eyes would crinkle and that cute little smile would appear. Over the years he would have short hair and Ronnie would have long hair or Billy would have long hair and Ronnie would go with the short hair. He liked to share his videos games with you and took the time to explain what was going on and hoped you that you would participate in the competition. And guess who won ? He was a smart guy and excelled in math, in the 98th percentile is test scoring in the country at one point in his life, pretty impressive !
I loved being able to share times with him at his sporting events, birthdays and holidays. He was kind and gentle with his younger cousins and friends.
I had great fun with Billy and the family at the beach and I even tried to cook for him there, but alas, nothing compared to his mom's cooking. I remember him ,at a young age , sweltering in the hot sun when he worked at the Midway Shopping Center speedway. He was hot but industrious.
He was loved dearly by his mom and dad and family and friends for the unique person that he was. I last spoke to him at Christmas at the Walsh house. I think he hoped to get back to school and find his way in life. We were all hoping that for him.
My heart goes out to Debbie and Ron. Your love and devotion to Billy was very evident. We can't always help those we love. We will just have to hold the memories of him in our hearts. He and Ronnie , as in life, are together again. I am so blessed to have shared some times in his life. Rest easy now.
Much love,
Aunt Nancy
