William "Bill" J. Ward's Obituary
William "Bill" J. Ward Jr., age 88, of Seaford, DE, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at Delaware Veterans Home in Milford. He was born in Bellefonte, PA, on Saturday, May 14, 1927 of the late William J. Ward, Sr. and Clarice (Shipman) Ward.
Mr. Ward worked selling Oliver Farm Equipment Company machinery for many years. He also sold life insurance for a time. Mr. Ward then was in retail sales with the Sears Co. from which he retired.
Mr. Ward was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran. He served his country honorably during World War II for 2 years in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Seaford where he was the Sunday school superintendent, an usher, and a cook for church dinners.
Mr. Ward loved gardening, woodworking, fishing, cooking, and wine making. He was a great storyteller and enjoyed playing with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patricia Ann Ward, in 2014; his three brothers: Chap, Ted, and Bob Ward; and his sister, Jane Bonsall. He is survived by his two daughters: Rebecca Phillips of Dallastown, PA and Bonnie Kendall of Bridgeville, DE; three grandchildren: Andrew E. Jackson and his wife, Jessica, of Seaford, DE, Aaron W. Jackson and his wife, Jill, of Bridgeville, DE and Anna-Marie Brode and her husband, Robbie, of Harrington, DE; six great grandchildren: Amelia and Leo Jackson, Logan and Emorie Jackson, and Robert and Rylan Brode; and his two sisters: Carroll McKnatt, of Harrington, DE and Judy Novak of Lake, MI.
Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2016, at 2:00 PM, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 22025 Atlanta Road, Seaford, DE where friends may visit beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow services at Odd Fellows Cemetery, 513 3rd Street, Seaford, DE 19973.
