I remember when he took over as the driving instructor for me. He was always calm and always patient. I saw him mad when someone had walked over his daughter's spyder and one or two other times, but never when teaching. He had a great laugh though. My condolences.
One memory I have is when Susan was moving into the Towers at UD. Naturally, at five or six year old I went along (in a nicknamed car I will not say here) with Susan and Mr. Griswold to "Help". Once we were done with the move, we said our goodbyes and the door closed. My head dropped and tears started to roll down my cheek. I cannot remember the words of comfort offered, if any to be honest. All I remember is Mr. Griswold scooping me up in his big long arms and being carried out to the car to head home.
I recall how flattered my dad, Frank Forgione, was when told by Bill Griswold how jealous he was of dad's ability to wall paper his dining room and living room. Now, everyone knew Mr Griswold not only had all of the tools, but used them all effortlessly. And usually helped others in the neighborhood. So I distinctly remember the disbelief when Mr Griswold asked dad to show him his secret to wall papering. It was the ultimate compliment for Frank!
