Willard "Will" Cathcart's Obituary
Willard "Will" Cathcart of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2011 at the age of 87, at Renaissance Healthcare, Millsboro, DE. He was born in Wilmington, DE, on October 1, 1923, son of the late Robert and Helen E. (Robinson) Cathcart.
Mr. Cathcart worked 41 years for the DuPont Company retiring in 1981 as a Research Technician. He was an avid bowler and golfer who competed in tournaments winning many trophies. He and his late wife Peggy moved to Rehoboth Beach, DE in 1991 where he was an active member of St. Georges Chapel in Harbeson. He was very instrumental in establishing and coordinating the building fund for the church and the church hall. He was previously a Shriner NUR Temple, a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Lions Club and Elks Club, and co-founder of the Dragons Club.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Cathcart was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Marguerite "Peggy" B. Cathcart (2004), his brother Robert, his sister Marion and brother-in-law Stanley Grochmal, his brother-in-law William Hickman, and his nephew Wayne Cathcart. Mr. Cathcart is survived by his son David T. Cathcart and his wife Susan of Newark, DE; his sister Doris Hickman of Georgetown, DE; grandchildren: Casey S. Cathcart and Daniel D. Cathcart, both of Newark; three nieces: Doris Schirmer, Jane Marienau and Michelle Kachmar; and his loving poodle George.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Georges Episcopal Chapel, 20322 Beaver Dam Road, Harbeson, DE, where friends may call at the Chapel beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in the adjacent church yard followed by a luncheon in the church hall. Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Delaware Hospice and the many physicians who supported and cared for Will over the past years.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Men's Dragon Club at St. Georges Chapel, c/o All Saints Episcopal Church, 18 Olive Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
