I knew Wes professionally from his work on the Board of Directors of Beebe Healthcare.

Wes was one-of-a-kind, possessing a warm and gentle soul. He was also very bright and had a quick sense of humor. Wes would ask the hard questions, but also was sure to compliment work well done.

A memory I have is when I traveled with Wes and a few others who served on the Beebe Board to an Educational Conference in Colorado. I got to know Wes a bit more and was able to appreciate how much he respected others and welcomed differing angles and perspectives. Banter with Wes came easy and I so enjoyed his company.

Farewell Wes. Know that you have left behind many who will never forget how you touched their lives in such a positive way.

I first met Wes when we were both members of the Georgetown-Millsboro Rotary Club. He was kind, funny, smart, and always interesting to talk to. It was later on when I met Mary when we both participated in weightlifting in the Delaware Senior Olympics, and Wes was on hand, taking pictures.

For years, and even after Wes was no longer in the club, I always heard from him when it was my birthday. It usually involved something with music and dancing. I, in turn, tried remembering to send him a birthday card for years. He certainly was a memorable guy. Sympathy, thoughts and prayers to Mary and the entire Perkins family.

Wes I'm gonna mias you but better I'm gonna remember you.. We were the wine servers at Peninsula Gallery for many years. I poured the red wine and Wes was the white guy. We shared many fun times, parities at our Wild Swan B & B and many dinners at the Grove Restaurant in Bishopville. Peace be with you and Love to Mary and famiyl

Such a dear friend for so many cherished years. It was 1992 and we just bought our house in Mill Pond Acres. I was tinkering in the yard when I notice this man with a big smile on his face walking towards me. With his ever present big smile he introduced himself and immediately thanked us for moving into the neighborhood and taking the gossip pressure off he and Mary - the (god forgive) unmarried couple who just moved into the neighborhood just replaced the rumor mill surrounding the bi-racial couple. It was friendship at first sight.
We soon formed a couple friendship that lasted forever. We took trips together to Italy, Key West, and Myrtle Beach, to name a few. The trip to South Carolina had one of the funniest moments that was pure Wes. As many people know if there was one thing Wes loved to do was drive, drive, drive long distances. I did not share that passion. So, when we decided to take this trip I offered our Mercedes SUV if Wes would drive. No brainer and off we went. As we are traveling through NC we pass several fields of Cotton. So, Wes says "hey Jer lets back the car into one of these fields, I'll get out and stand next to the car, and you video tape we saying, look I finally made it." Pure Wes!! I will always miss you my friend.

A finer person I have never met. Wes was the highlight of my day. He made me laugh and think. No matter the subject, I always learned from him. He was funny and kind. Everyone at the salon is going to miss him. Rest well, my friend 🧡
