Debbie, I was looking up the 2d Richmond Howitzers online and found Wes' obituary.

I knew Wes for only a short time but quickly came to have the greatest respect for him as an individual and a unit commander.

My heart is heavy and I will surely miss him this summer at the reenactments; but somehow I feel that he will be there to be sure everything goes okay.

I know words can't help, but please know that both Wes and you are in many, many hearts both near and far.

My hopes and prayers go with you.

Dear Debbie & Family:
Chris and I are sorry about your loss. I have always thought of Wes as a very good friend, Brother Officer. When he was on duty with me in Millsboro I knew I had someone out there that would have my back and I would have his. Wes and I use to joke about our age. When his birthday came along in Feb. he say to me " well Gary I am older then you today, but come Nov. I would say to him " Wes as of today we are the same age" as we were both born in 1948. Wes, 1st of us to go was Erine and now you. The best three Officers Millsboro ever had. So I'll tell you and Erine. We will get together one of these days and talk about old times. Until that time comes of which I don't plan on it lease 30 years or so. You will be missed and Erine as well. The friendship that the three of us had here on earth. Will forever be in my heart. God Bless you and your family. Sorry we didn't make to see you but we were away.

I miss and love you buddy. Some of the best years of my life were the days of working together with you as 908-3 and 908-7. I can vividly remember always staying late on the weekends to work with you because you were the only working past 2:00 AM, and man did we have fun. Wait was there any "policies" back then that we had to worry about Wes? I don't think so! I know I drove you crazy more then once, but you were always like a dad to me and knew what the word "forgiveness" was in every way. I miss you Wes, and I know you are in a better place now. You will always be my first "Sergeant" and someone I looked up to. RIP brother, I will never forget you.
