Warren McCallister's Obituary
Warren Janvier "Sug" McCallister, age 82, at home surrounded by his family, made the journey to Heaven in the early morning of Saturday, February 14, 2015. He was born on April 24, 1932 in Newport, DE, son of the late Janvier and Helen (Cunningham) McCallister.
Warren was a "born and raised Delawarean" and had lived for the past thirty (30) years in Lewes, DE. He attended and graduated from Henry C. Conrad High School and West Nottingham Academy. He was a lettered athlete in football, basketball and baseball. He attended the University of Delaware but quickly started his lifelong career at the Newport DuPont plant where he held various jobs, including draftsman and purchasing agent. He took early retirement at the ripe old age of 55 and he and his wife, Helen (Kampmann) McCallister moved to Aspen Meadows in Lewes, DE. Warren worked part-time for Camelot mobile homes and Shinn's Paints. In 2003 they moved to The Villages of Five Points.
Warren was an avid sports fan and loyal to the University of Delaware & Philadelphia (Eagles, Flyers and Phillies) teams. If you saw Warren, he probably was wearing either a U of D, Eagles or Phillies hat or shirt or sometimes both. Warren was also a family man, devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren.
Warren is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Helen (Kampman) McCallister of Lewes, DE; two daughters, Cathy McCallister and her partner Karen Hugues of Rehoboth Beach, DE; Tracy Pino and husband Dan of Ellicott City, MD; four grandchildren Kylie, Brett, Julia and Sean Pino all of Ellicott City, MD and a multitude of family, friends and neighbors.
