Wanda A. Tomlinson's Obituary
Wanda A. Tomlinson, 68, of Georgetown DE, formerly of Cape May, NJ. passed away on Friday, January 8, 2010, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, DE. Born Monday, August 18, 1941 in Ludlow, VT, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Dorothy (Nashville) Metivier.
Wanda was the first female bus driver for the New Jersey Transit Authority in the South Jersey Area and was a member of their 25 year club. She retired in 2000. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, a member of their choir and Glee Club and Pocahontas Lodge of Delaware. She traveled the country camping in 45 states and enjoyed gardening and reading.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Robert E. Tomlinson of Georgetown; one son, Robert E.Tomlinson, II and his wife Jacalyn of Millsboro, DE; three daughters: Deborah Tomlinson of North Cape May, NJ, Barbara Post and her husband Joe of Chalfont, PA and Kimberly Tomlinson of The Villas, NJ; six grandchildren: Joey Post, Megan Post, Brian Post, Kristin Tomlinson, Michael Orr, Ashton Tomlinson; and her dogs, Miss Stella and Mr. Fitz.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 12:00 pm at Grace United Methodist Church, King and Market Streets, Georgetown, with her pastor, The Rev. Michael McGee officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at the church. A reception will follow the services at the church.
