Wanda Lee Mitchell's Obituary
Wanda L. Mitchell, age 74 of Lewes, DE, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Beebe Healthcare. She was born on January 14, 1948, in Salisbury, MD, daughter of the late Alfred and Grace Tindle.
Wanda, with her parents, moved to Lewes from Salisbury during her grade school years. She graduated from Lewes High School, Class of 1966, and in September of the same year married the love of her life, Bill.
Wanda had many interests and hobbies. She was an avid reader, always enjoying a good book and loved socializing with her friends at Irish Eyes, dancing and listening to Junior & Chatty playing her favorite songs. What Wanda loved above all was time spent with her family. Birthday parties, events for grandkids, nieces and nephews, playing games and dress up with the great-grandchildren, playing card games with the adult kids (and usually winning!), the occasion didn’t matter - she loved family time. Wanda was always supportive; trekking up and down the East Coast for dance competitions, showing pride in her Marine grandson, and gathering family together for vacations. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Loved by many, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William T. Mitchell; and her brother, Levin Tindle. She is survived by her children: Kelly Sifford (Jason), William Mitchell Jr. (Gwen), and Tanya Farlow (Lee Roy); her grandchildren: Zachery Ayers (Alison), Courtney Mitchell (Sway Lebron), William Mitchell, III and Abigail Farlow; her great-grandchildren: Madison, Mia, Juliana, Makenna, and Norah; her sister, Beverly Layton (Eddie); her nephews: Michael Newcomb (Kathy and James Layton; and her great-nieces and nephews: Matthew, Morgan, and Andrew.
Services will be private.
