W. Brien Pierce's Obituary
William Brien Pierce, age 75 of Lewes, DE, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 8, 2017 while tending to his riverfront land in Woodland, DE. This was a joy to him. He passed away very unexpectedly.
Brien was born in Cambridge, MA on April 2, 1942, son of the late Carl and Helen Pierce. He was raised in New England with his three siblings: a brother, Richard, and two sisters, Barbara and Diana.
Brien attended college at Webb Institute on Long Island, NY, where he graduated in 1964 as a Naval Architect. He worked designing and building boats for the Navy in Newport News, VA.
After visiting friends in Lewes, DE, Brien came to appreciate the area and moved to Lewes to build his own boats. Eventually he became interested in building reproductions of Queen Anne and Chippendale furniture. After meeting the love of his life, Bernadette Sing in 1973, they soon married, had three children, and moved to Albion, PA, where he continued with woodworking. After the kids left home to pursue their own lives, the couple returned to Lewes, DE where Brien worked for Oceanic Ventures building cabinets for the past 16 years. His most cherished moments, however, were those spent with his family and friends. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who was deeply loved and appreciated. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know him. He leaves behind a legacy of genuineness with a pure and rich faith.
Brien is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Bernadette (Sing) Pierce; his sons: William Pierce, Jr. and his wife Whitney, and Daniel Pierce and his wife Stephanie; his daughter, Beth Nevmerzycki and her husband David; and his seven grandchildren: Gabriel, Sierra, Nathanael, Kaiya, Joshua, Hannah, Joseph Brien, and #8, coming soon.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, July 14, 2017, at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 2:00 PM.
