Vito Roca's Obituary
Vito Roca, age 94 of Lewes, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 18, 2018, at his home. He was born Thursday, May 03, 1923 in Mola di Bari, Italy,son of the late Mariano and Angela (Castellano) Roca.
Mr. Roca graduated from the University of Bari Aldo Moro in Italy with a civil engineering degree in 1942. In 1952 he immigrated to the United States, where he worked as a carpenters assistant while attending night school to learn English and become a US Citizen. Mr. Roca established his own construction company in the 1960s and retired as a land development manager in the Washington DC area. He enjoyed social gatherings of the Sons of Italy and Knights of Columbus in Deltona, FL, both of which he was a dedicated member. Mr. Roca's interests were many and varied, and included gardening, dancing, watching football and soccer, and dining with family and friends. More than anything, however, he was the consummate family man, who cherished time spent with those he held most dear. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, John Roca, and many other family members. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Mary Roca; his son Mario Roca and his wife Peggy; his daughter, Angela Wolf and her husband Doug; his grandchildren: Billy Roca, Bryan McClelland, and Carleigh McClelland; and his great-granddaughter, Lyda McClelland.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 2:00 PM, at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway; Lewes, DE, where friends may call beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow the services at All Saints Cemetery, 20274 Beaver Dam Road; Harbeson, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mr. Roca's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital: 501 St. Jude Place; Memphis, TN 38105.
