Virginia Yetman's Obituary
Virginia Carol (Thames) Yetman, our beloved wife, mother, sister and daughter ascended into Heaven peacefully at her home in Pinewater Farm, Harbeson, DE with her family by her side on Sunday, December 30, 2007.
Carol was a friend to all and meant so much to everyone. She was an active woman who loved gardening, walking daily and playing the piano. Carol and Dave enjoyed traveling across the country in their motor home. Carol also loved to spend time with her three grandchildren -- she was the perfect grandmother.
Carol is survived by her husband of 42 years, David F. Yetman, they married in 1966. Carol and her husband moved to England where they lived serving the Department of Defense for almost six years. Upon returning to the States, they moved to Maryland where Carol was a bank manager. Through that career, Carol made many friends in the community. After retirement, Carol and Dave moved to Delaware. Carol then went to work in the Cape Henlopen School District office and the high school office prior to becoming ill.
In addition to her husband, Carol is survived by her daughter Amanda Ludwig and her husband Bill and their two children, Colin and Olivia, all of Arizona. She also has a son, Steve Yetman and his wife Tiffany and their child Anna, all of Maryland. Also, her mother Drunetta Hammack of Alabama, two brothers, Charles Thames of Indiana, and the Rev. James Otis Thames of Alabama. Carol's best friend is her sister Sara who resides in Alabama with her husband Stan Achimon.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 11 A.M. at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Shaun Fink will be officiating. Entombment will be private Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947 or to Tunnel Cancer Center, 424 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958.
