Virginia Moore Rhodes' Obituary
Virginia Moore Rhodes, age 75 of Lewes, Delaware passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 16, 2010, at the Delaware Hospice Center located in Milford, Delaware. She was born on Thursday, February 15, 1934 in Fairlee, Maryland. She was the daughter of the late Lloyd Ward Moore and Alice Stafford Moore of Rock Hall, Maryland.
After 20 years as a Cape Henlopen School District Employee, Mrs. Rhodes retired in 1996 as the head Librarian for the Shields Elementary School in Lewes, Delaware. Prior to moving to Delaware in 1964 she had been employed as a telephone operator for the former C & P Telephone Company. She was a long time member of Saint Jude and Saint Edmond’s Roman Catholic Church as well as a member of the Most Blessed Virgin Sodality.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, John Henry Rhodes of Lewes, her daughter Lisa Kay Rhodes George of Ocean Pines, Maryland, her son John David Rhodes and his wife Anita Sheffield of Blackstone, Virginia, and her grandson Michaelson John Capuano also of Ocean Pines, Maryland. She was predeceased in death by a grandson Jameson Ward George on August 13, 2003.
Friends may call on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Parsell Funeral Home & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway Lewes, Delaware. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Saint Jude the Apostle Church located on Delaware Route 1, North of Five Points in Lewes, Delaware where friends may call one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in Chesterfield Cemetery, Centerville, Maryland.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Virginia’s name be sent to Saint Jude The Apostle Building Fund located at 152 Tulip Drive in Lewes, Delaware 19958 or to Delaware Hospice located on Patriots Way in Milford, Delaware 19963.
