Words are so empty at a time such as this but it be of comfort to know that others care and are holding you close in thought and prayer. Gini was a special person who touched many lives and a true friend of mine who will surely be missed.
I met Gini when we both signed up for a training class being held at Modern Maturity in Dover to teach us to lead Peer Sharing groups in senior centers. These groups were developed to encourage seniors to interact as they shared memories and experiences with one another from their life's journey. for some reason the instructor often asked Gini and me to work together in class as we worked on assignments. When the class ended she asked Gini and me if we would be willing to lead a Peer Sharing group at the Milford Senior Center which was the beginning of a great friendship. We spent many hours planning topics to encourage our group to share. We led this group until Gini gave up driving. However, even after the group had disbanded, Gini and I stayed in touch often spending time talking about the group and topics we had discussed among other things.
Also, even before the Peer Sharing group disbanded, Gini took on the responsibility of being librarian for the Milford Senior Center library until she no longer drove. One could often find her organizing and straightening up the library. She always wanted to make a difference.
I was sure Gini would enjoy the Milford New Century Club to which I belonged so I invited her to a meeting. She did indeed enjoy herself and joined the club to which she belonged until she no longer drove to Milford. Again, we spent time together at meetings and activities. Not to mention the time we spent talking about the club after she could no longer attend.
Alison and Judi, there is one thing for sure though Gini will live on through you because she has instilled in both of you the same caring and compassionate spirit she had as she reached out and touched other's lives
Love and Prayers,
