Virginia Ann Basile's Obituary
Virginia Ann Basile, lovingly known as Ginger, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025, at the age of 89, with her three devoted children by her side.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Ginger later settled in Bergen County, New Jersey, where she and her late husband, Gene—who predeceased her 16 years ago—raised their three children: Paul (married to Barbara), Linda, and Debra. A vibrant and active woman throughout her life, Ginger split her time in later years between the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania and Palm Beach Gardens, later settling in Jupiter, Florida. She most recently made her home in Southern Delaware.
Family was always at the center of Ginger’s world. She is survived by her children and by her beloved grandchildren: Alexander (married to Julie), Zane (engaged to Catalina), Jacqueline (married to Anthony Cantiello), and Nicole (married to Tolga Erzene). She was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren—Sebastian, Oliver, Sylvie, Maximus, Shea, Willow, and Hudson—each of whom brought her tremendous joy.
Ginger’s warmth, humor, and energy touched everyone who knew her. She cherished time with her extended family, cousins, and lifelong friends. She found great joy in playing cards, mahjong, tennis and golf, and she could always be found dancing—or singing—whenever her favorite songs came on. Her zest for life, her kindness, and her unmistakable spark will be deeply missed.
No funeral arrangements have been made at this time. The family is considering a celebration of life at a future date, where loved ones will gather to honor and remember her remarkable spirit.
