Virgil Allen Plummer's Obituary
Virgil "Buddy" A. Plummer, age 72 of Georgetown, DE, was reunited with Patti, his wife of 54 years, on Thursday, January 19, 2017. He was born on February 8, 1944, son of the late Henry and Catherine Plummer.
As the youngest child, Buddy was much spoiled by his older siblings. His family was everything to him. His marriage to the love of his life, Patti, on July 7, 1963 brought him great joy, as did the three daughters who were so blessed to call him “Daddy”. Buddy was proud to be called Pop Pop by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and you would see him cheering loudly at all the events in which they participated. He was their greatest fan. Buddy’s favorite hobbies included Stock Car Racing, fishing, and camping, so the next time you hook a big one, or take the checkered flag, raise a beer in honor of him. Buddy was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, and he will be genuinely missed by all those who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patti Plummer; his brother, John Plummer; and his sisters: Doris Hitchens and Anna May King. He is survived by his daughters: Lisa Lasher and her husband Sean, Christine Sockriter and her husband Sammy Jr., and Georgeanna Mitchell and her husband Matthew; his brother, Charlie Plummer and his wife Kathryn; his grandchildren: Jesse Conaway, Carrie Whaley, Lisa Jones, Jamie Sockriter, Christopher Sockriter, Samuel Sockriter III, Joseph Sockriter, Marine Sgt. Shane Sockriter, Courtney Abele, William Plummer, Sewall Hickman Jr., and Hiram Lasher; her great-grandchildren: Chad, Christopher, Cameron, Dylan, Alexis, MaKenna, Eric, Payton, Bella, Saddie, Paisley, Chloe, and Keiran.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday January 24, 2017 at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematoium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 North Bedford Street, Georgetown, DE, where friends may call beginning at 2:00 PM. Interment will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday January 26, 2017 at Millsboro Cemetery, Iron Branch Road, Millsboro.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Buddy’s name to Good Ole Boy Foundation at www.goodoleboyfoundation.com/give.html or The Georgetown Historical Society, 510 S Bedford St, Georgetown, DE 19947.
