Violet May Ray's Obituary
Violet May Ray, age 89, of Bridgeville, Delaware, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, January 13, 2025, at her home. She was born on April 15, 1935, to the late Clyde and Edith (Peoples) Dennis.
Violet graduated from Seaford High School, class of 1953 and soon after married the love of her life, John F. Ray. Together, they built a wonderful life filled with love and devotion to one another. She was a dedicated homemaker and worked alongside her husband as a farmer. Her legacy lives on through her family, as she was a gifted cook, a talented seamstress, accomplished horse woman, and an extraordinary mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan M. Ray and Kim F. Ray, both of Bridgeville; six grandchildren: Paul Williamson (Delmar, MD), Mark Williamson (Trappe, MD), Katie Lamberton (Andrew) (Seaford, DE), John Ray (Whitney) (Magnolia, DE), Derek Nennstiehl (Tina) USAF, and Johanna Ray-Herman (Ray) (Elkton, MD); and five great-grandchildren: Starla Williamson, Madison Williamson, Shelby Ray, Harvey Ray, and Dylan Lamberton.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 56 years, John F. Ray, her son, Thomas M. Ray, and two brothers, Leslie Earl Dennis, Sr. and William Reed Dennis.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Bridgeville Cemetery, Market & Laws Streets, Bridgeville, DE 19933, followed by a luncheon.
