Verna Mae Byre's Obituary

Verna Mae Byre, age 89 of Lewes, DE, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2020 at Harrison Senior Living in Georgetown, DE. She was born on December 17, 1930 in Wilmington, DE, daughter of the late Evan F. and Anna M. Miller.
Verna was the library manager for Cape Henlopen School District from 1969-1992. She was a faithful, lifetime member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Lewes. Verna loved traveling, spending time on Lewes Beach, and mentoring children within the local school district. She enjoyed going out to eat with her family and friends and hosted many holiday gatherings. Her great-grandchildren were the lights of her life, with whom she stayed active by attending various sporting activities, taking small day trips, and spending time at the park. Verna was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Verna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Byre; and her brother Evan "Dutch" Miller. She is survived by her son, William Tyndall (Debbie); her daughter, Sandra Kimbel (David); her grandchildren: William Brennan (Erin), Robert Brennan (Allison), Brandon Brennan, Kristy Tyndall, and Laura Gastelle (Bryan); her great-grandchildren: Maddon, Colton, Tanner, Zoe, Tristan, and Cole Brennan; and her brother, John Miller (Mary).
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may call beginning at 10:00. Burial will follow the services at 12:15 PM at Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Savannah Road, Lewes, DE.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing protocols must be observed and masks must be worn by everyone participating in any aspect of the services.
