Tony Jackewicz's Obituary
Anthony Stephen Jackewicz, Jr., devoted husband and father
Anthony "Tony" Jackewicz of Lewes, departed this life Friday, June 12, 2009
after an ongoing struggle with his health. Born April 14, 1950 in Southampton, NY, he moved to Dover, DE as a young boy with his parents, the late Anthony and Bertha Jackewicz.
A graduate of Holy Cross High School, Class of 1968, Mr. Jackewicz served in the U.S. Air Force before returning home to the family business, Round Barn Farms where he worked until the sale of the farm in the mid 1980’s. Before declining health forced his retirement, he owned and operated Total Property Care, a home renovation contracting business.
A beach lover who enjoyed surfing and fishing, Tony found great joy in cooking for and entertaining his family and friends. His positive spirit and great courage were an inspiration to all. Quick with a joke and ever-smiling, his passing leaves the world a sadder and darker place for his family and for the many friends he made along life's journey.
Mr. Jackewicz was a member of the Episcopal Parish of All Saints' Church & St. George's Chapel where he and his family received endless love and support during his illness. He is survived by his devoted wife of thirty-three years, Melissa Lemaire Jackewicz; son Jason Bennett Jackewicz of Lewes; daughter Elisabeth "Buffy" Jackewicz and her fiancé Jesse Neace both of Alexandria, VA; brothers John Jackewicz of Dover and Paul Jackewicz and his wife Patricia of Rehoboth Beach. He is also survived by his granddogs Audie and Maxie, along with a host of other cherished relatives and countless friends.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, June 20th at All Saints' Episcopal Church, 18 Olive Avenue, Rehoboth Beach with The Rev. Max J. Wolf officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Tony's name to All Saints' Church, 18 Olive Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971 or to The Wellness Community-Delaware, 18947 John J. Williams Hwy., Suite 312, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
