Timothy Gordy Smoot's Obituary
Timothy Gordy Smoot, born on June 28, 1943, left this life on August 29, 2020 after a brief battle with Cancer. In his life, he served in the U.S. Navy, on the U.S.S. ALBANY. Tim also worked for the Chrysler Corporation, making many friends. He loved telling stories and sharing his life experiences. He had a hippie soul and a love for life, family, and friends.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Madelyn Smoot of Sharptown, MD; his brother, Steve Smoot of Sharptown, MD; as well as his son, Paxton Smoot; his daughter, Dana Smoot; his granddaughter, Ciera Smoot; his step-daughter, Katie Tanner, as well as his wife, Kathy Tanner. He is survived by his brother, Geoff (Beverly) Smoot of Hebron, MD; his sister, Lisa Cuddy (preceded in death by husband Robert Cuddy) of NC; and his stepson, Robert Tanner, of PA. Tim also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. In Tim’s life, while living in Newark, Tim was also survived by his second family of loving friends, Bob Polis, Diane Whitehead, Mary Almony, Matt Stewart and Fran.
A chapel committal service to celebrate Tim’s life will be held on October 14, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the Delaware Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701.
