Timothy Lee Carpenter's Obituary
Dr. Timothy Lee Carpenter, age 78, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, DE, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born on August 31, 1946, in Anderson, IN, Tim was the beloved son of the late Dudley and Doris (Hilligos) Carpenter. He graduated from Anderson High School in 1964, earned his undergraduate degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1968, and later completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Maryland in 1974.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Tim served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he pursued a long and respected career as a dentist with practices in Severna Park, Reisterstown, and Columbia, MD.
On December 29, 1971, Tim and Karen were married at Grace Methodist Church in Cambridge, MD. Together, they shared 53 wonderful years filled with devotion, laughter, and family.
Tim found joy, especially, in his girls Katie and Meggie and in his adored grandson, Cooper. And, he was so happy to welcome Meggie's new family, Jacob and Zach. Tim also enjoyed gardening, golf, cheering on the Baltimore Ravens, playing bridge, reading comics with the boys, and snuggling with the King family dog, Bella. His gentle spirit, sense of humor and deep love for his family were ever-present.
Tim is survived by his wife, Karen Carpenter; his daughter Katie Carpenter King, son-in-law James King, and cherished grandson Cooper King; his daughter Meggie Carpenter Browning, son-in-law Zachary Browning, and step-grandson Jacob. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Dinah Groves and brother-in-law Terry Groves; nieces Jessica Darrow (husband Jason and children Dylan, Logan, and Nina) of northern Virginia, and Nichol Evans (husband Chris and sons Garrett, Ridge, and Dryver), of Cambridge, MD.
Tim will be deeply missed and forever loved by all whose lives he touched with his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love.
