Thomas Smith's Obituary
Thomas Smith, age 75, of Lewes, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 12, 2011 at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, DE. He was born in Chester, PA, on Tuesday, February 4, 1936, son of the late Harry C. and Helen Victoria (Czyrny) Smith.
Mr. Smith proudly served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves from 1955 to 1958. He worked for the Delaware Tobacco Company in Chester, PA before moving to Delaware in 1989 where he resided with his sister and brother-in-law Joan and Peter Economos of Lewes. He enjoyed many past times including gardening and Lewes Little League baseball; he was very knowledgeable about wildlife which he enjoyed sharing with others. Tom also was recognized by many for his time and talent with the cat condominiums at Fisherman's Wharf in Lewes.
Tom is survived by three sisters: Joan Economos and husband Peter of Lewes, Elizabeth Kozur and husband John of Wagener, SC, and Carol Williams and husband James of Merritt Island, FL; a brother Charles Smith and wife Josephine of Newark, DE; and many nieces, nephews and their children.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 16, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE where friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Conley's Methodist Cemetery, 22150 Robinsonville Road, Lewes.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Tom's memory to a charity of your choice.
