Thomas E. Schenk's Obituary
Thomas E. Schenk Jr., age 83, of Millsboro, DE, formerly of Wallingford and Philadelphia, PA, passed away on Monday, May 01, 2017 at Harrison Senior Living in Georgetown, DE, following a brief illness. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, October 06, 1933, son of the late Thomas E. and Anne (Schreiber) Schenk.
Mr. Schenk was a graduate of St. James High School, Chester, PA and LaSalle University, Philadelphia, PA with a degree in French and Foreign Languages. He was employed by Texas Transport and Terminal in Philadelphia as an Interpreter, Media Courthouse of DE County, PA, and The Elwyn School of Media, PA in Data Processing.
Mr. Schenk enjoyed classical music and played the violin. He was a huge supporter of Philadelphia sports teams. He was a proud US Navy Veteran and a member of St. Jude's Roman Catholic Church in Lewes, DE. He was also a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Schenk is survived by his sisters: Judith Basara and her husband Ed, of Georgetown, DE, and Sandra Leonard and her husband Donald, of Broomall, PA; his nieces: Beth Basara Bader and her husband Clint, of Lewes, DE, and Christie Leonard, of Broomall, PA; his nephew: Dennis Basara and his wife Paula of Gurnee, IL; special great-nieces: Karalyn Joseph, Emily Basara, and Lyndsey Basara; and great-nephews: Kyle Joseph and Joel Basara.
There will be a Mass of Chistian Burial at St. Jude's followed by a service at the Delawsare Veteran's Cemetery. All services will be private.
