THOMAS INGOLD OBITUARY
INGOLD
THOMAS INGOLD (Age 76)
Of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at Brandywine Senior Living in Rehoboth. He was born July 9, 1946, in Omaha, NE, son of the late Eugene and Mary Jean Ingold.
Tom was a graduate of Creighton University, held a master's in Communications from the American University, and began his career and life-long love in television.
As a production manager for PBS's affiliate, WETA, Tom worked on In Performance at the White House throughout the Reagan and Bush years and stage managed The Capitol Fourth on the Mall in Washington. Throughout, he met and charmed the likes of Mary Martin, Bea Arthur, Barbara Cook, and once earned the wrath of Roberta Flack when she was late for her curtain call.
He left WETA to join a young company in Silver Spring, MD — Discovery Television.
Anyone who spent time at Washington's many gay piano, leather, and drag bars of the 1960s, would remember Tom as a gregarious, fun-loving guy who liked to entertain. He often sang accompaniment to honky-tonk piano played by his late long-term partner, Kirby Matson.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by partner Kirby Matson; and his brother, James Ingold. He is survived by companion, Bill Wasser; his sisters: Elizabeth Berube, Mary Bissett and Margaret Ingold; his brother, John Ingold; and his many nieces and nephews. Services will be announced at a later date.
