Thomas J. Evans' Obituary
Thomas J. Evans, of Lewes, Delaware, passed away peacefully at home on June 9, 2026. He was born on December 23, 1949, in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, to the late Joseph and Josephine Evans.
Tom spent his childhood and school years in Lebanon, where he developed the straightforward nature, strong work ethic, and gift for conversation that would become hallmarks of his character throughout his life. After graduating from high school, he relocated to Delaware and built a career that spanned several industries. He worked in grocery retail, later in the printing industry, and eventually spent nearly a decade with Walgreens. Through his many years of customer service and community interaction, Tom became a familiar and recognizable figure to countless people. No matter where he went, it seemed someone knew him or stopped to say hello.
Tom never met a stranger. He had a natural ability to connect with people from all walks of life and could carry on a conversation with just about anyone. He was known for speaking his mind, being genuine and direct, and making others feel comfortable in his presence.
Outside of work, Tom found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He loved flowers and took great pride in caring for them. He was also devoted to his beloved Shelties, Hayden and Milo, whose companionship brought him immeasurable joy. Whether tending to his flowers, spending time with his dogs, or chatting with friends and neighbors, Tom embraced each day with appreciation and warmth.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Josephine Evans, as well as his siblings.
He leaves behind his loving partner, David Coffin; his cherished Shelties, Hayden and Milo; and many friends, former coworkers, and acquaintances who will remember him for his kindness, conversation, and unmistakable presence. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
